Key Takeaways

  • AVPro Edge has introduced the MXnet P-Series, replacing its SW24 and SW48 MXnet 1G network switches.
  • The new 24-port and 48-port models feature preconfigured deployment, higher uplink bandwidth, and PoE support for AV-over-IP systems.
  • Both switches are designed for residential and commercial installations and include a 10-year warranty.

What Is the AVPro Edge MXnet P-Series?

AVPro Edge has introduced its new MXnet P-Series network switches, updating its MXnet 1G switching lineup with two preconfigured models designed for larger AV-over-IP deployments in residential and commercial environments.

The new MXnet P-Series replaces the company’s SW24 and SW48 switches with 24-port and 48-port models that retain the existing platform’s stacking and uplinking capabilities while increasing uplink bandwidth. According to the company, the switches are intended for large residential, hospitality, and commercial MXnet 1G installations.

Both switches ship preconfigured for MXnet 1G V1 and V2 systems, eliminating the need for manual network configuration. They also support IGMP Snooping, VLANs, and Quality of Service (QoS) to simplify multicast video deployments.

What New Features Do the MXnet P-Series Switches Offer?

The flagship 48-port model features 48 Gigabit PoE/PoE+ copper ports and six 25Gb SFP28 uplink and stacking ports, replacing the previous generation’s four 10Gb uplink ports. The switch offers a 396Gbps switching capacity, a 740W PoE budget, and PoE++ support of up to 90W on ports 41 through 48. AVPro Edge says the switch is non-blocking for 1G deployments and supports up to four switch hops.

The 24-port model includes 24 Gigabit PoE/PoE+ ports, four 10Gb SFP+ uplink and stacking ports, a 128Gbps switching capacity, and a 370W PoE budget. Like the larger model, it is housed in a 1RU rackmount chassis and supports up to four switch hops.

“The preconfigured MXnet P-Series switches eliminate the need for complex manual configuration, saving integrators time while ensuring predictable multicast performance and smooth video switching from day one of deployment in any MXnet system,” said Matt Murray, CEO of AVPro Global, in the announcement. “The new SW48P jumps from four 10G uplink ports to six 25G SFP28 ports, giving integrators managing larger deployments a major step up in bandwidth headroom while remaining plug-and-play out of the box.”

How Does the MXnet E-Series Fit into the Lineup?

Alongside the P-Series announcement, AVPro Edge also highlighted its MXnet E-Series switches, a lower-cost line of preconfigured network switches designed for MXnet USP systems. The company says the E-Series can also serve as the backbone for Dante and AES67 audio networks or support single-switch MXnet 1G installations across hospitality, education, healthcare, and government applications.

Both the MXnet P-Series and E-Series switches are backed by AVPro Edge’s 10-year advanced replacement warranty.
