LG’s Transparent OLED TV Blends into Modern Home Environments
Despite its 77-inch screen size, LG asserts the LG SIGNATURE OLED T enhances the feeling of space within a room. Utilizing the TV’s transparency allows it to be placed centrally without the display becoming obtrusive or positioned in front of windows without blocking natural light or views of the outdoors.
The global company boasts its new SIGNATURE OLED T represents a huge leap in both technology and design innovation, reflecting its drive to deliver unique entertainment solutions. The company points out the display’s cutting-edge self-lit screen can transform from transparent to opaque—a unique ability that provides the OLED viewing experience while offering greater design flexibility for integrators, architects and interior designers.
According to LG, the TV can switch between transparent and opaque modes at the touch of a button, unlocking its ability to blend into home spaces to complement entertainment and design applications. When in transparent mode, the SIGNATURE OLED T offers what LG describes is a futuristic content experience. The screen not only creates the illusion of content floating in mid-air but also produces an effect by “merging” the on-screen visuals with the surrounding space.
The TV also comes with T-Objet, an Always-On-Display (AOD) mode that transforms the screen into a transparent digital canvas (similar to many other TVs on the market now) that can be used to showcase artwork, videos or photos. Complementing this feature is LG’s T-Bar, which LG says is an info-ticker that appears along the bottom edge of the screen, providing sports results, IoT device statuses, weather forecasts or song title information.
The rest of the screen remains unused when T-Bar is active, presenting a clean look and a clear view of the space behind the display. For added convenience LG continues, T-Home offers a user-friendly interface that delivers an organized overview of available services, as well as quick access to apps, settings and other features.
Additional Features of the LG SIGNATURE T OLED Display
LG points out the SIGNATURE OLED T further elevates the user experience with a suite of features that leverage the advantages of a transparent OLED TV.
The transparent 4K OLED screen combined with LG’s true wireless video and audio transmission technology, promises not only the aesthetic value but also an enhanced home entertainment experience. Free from tangled cables, the device is designed to deliver an immersive, distraction-free viewing environment.
LG also points out the OLED T includes its proprietary Zero Connect Box, a visually lossless wireless video and audio transmission solution without latency. The display’s ability to support 4K at 120Hz variable refresh rate has been certified by NVIDIA as G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium to eliminate tearing and stuttering of video content for an improved gaming experience.
In addition, the LG SIGNATURE OLED T is powered by the company’s (Alpha) 11 AI processor, which LG says intelligently optimizes both picture and sound quality.
