With 3LCD technology, 1080p resolution and pending THX certification, Epson’s new 8500UB is arguably the first affordable piece of video gear to don THX’s famous logo.

The 8500UB, expected to cost about $3,000, has a 200,000:1 contrast ratio, 1,600 lumens of brightness, and Super-resolution technology for sharper picture. It also comes with a built-in Silicon Optix HQV Reon-VX scaling and de-interlacing video processor.
