Narrow bezels are the key to Planar’s new Clarity Matrix LCD Video Wall System, according to Planar. In the inset photo, notice that the bezel surrounding the LCD screen is about the width of a finger nail.

A Planar booth attendant at InfoComm 09 explains that there is a give and take with LCD wall systems. On the positive side, LCD technology allows the screens to be mounted close to the wall versus traditional rear-projection-based video wall systems that generally are mounted inside walls. The negative with LCD walls, he explains, is that they usually have noticeable bezels, causing a tic-tac-toe effect.

The Clarity Matrix system has extremely narrow bezels. You can still see lines between the TVs, but they’re more subtle. The 46-inch LCD panel video wall system is an excellent fit for non-mission-critical digital signage applications, according to Planar.
