RBH Sound 8300-SE/R Loudspeaker

It’s kind of funny that an audio company can be so soft spoken, but that’s the case with RBH Sound.

Year after year, the company quietly produces some of the most value-minded, performance loudspeakers the specialty market has to offer.

This year, the company rolled out its 8300-SE/R, which will be available in two versions. This will meet the demands of dealers that want a smaller, high-performance speaker to produce high SPLs and dynamics at a premium price point.

Using electronics from Boulder, RBH played music from Derek & the Dominos, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC and Supertramp.

What I heard was firm upper bass, seamless octave-to-octave bass to top-end reproduction, strong dynamic punch and clean, loud volume levels.

One thing that did strike me was that the 8300s don’t seem to have the sweet midrange that I associate with RBH products. The 8300s were much more neutral and that may please listeners who favor jazz and classical music.
