Sony believes its new BRAVIA 9 II lineup represents one of the biggest leaps in television technology in years, and in a recent interview with CE Pro, Kathleen Thomas, head of Sony’s U.S. Custom Integration channel, explained why.
Rather than simply improving traditional Mini LED technology, Sony’s new True RGB architecture replaces conventional white or blue backlighting with independently controlled red, green and blue LEDs. According to Thomas, that allows the televisions to deliver significantly higher brightness, dramatically expanded color volume and more lifelike images while reducing blooming and improving off-axis viewing.
Thomas also discussed how Sony’s image processing plays a critical role in making the technology work. She explained that controlling millions of RGB LEDs requires far greater precision than previous generations, leading Sony to develop a new control architecture capable of independently managing each color channel to preserve image accuracy even during complex scenes.
For the custom integration channel, Sony continues to differentiate itself with its Pro Series models, which are available exclusively through CI dealers. Those displays include a three-year warranty, additional Sony Pictures CORE benefits and features designed to simplify service while protecting dealer margins from retail price competition.
The interview also covered the growing demand for 115-inch displays. While homeowners increasingly want larger screens for open-concept living spaces and dedicated media rooms, Thomas emphasized that integrators must carefully plan delivery routes, stairways and installation logistics. Sony also engineered the displays with a reinforced aluminum frame and lifting hardware to make installation easier.
Beyond picture quality, Thomas discussed Sony’s ongoing focus on smart home integration. The latest lineup expands full IP control across more models while maintaining compatibility with leading automation platforms, giving integrators greater flexibility regardless of the control system they deploy.
The conversation concludes with Thomas reflecting on overwhelmingly positive dealer response and one of Sony’s strongest television launches to date, driven in part by extensive early demonstrations and roadshows ahead of the product announcement.
