You never know when a simple conversation or shared interest will turn into a project opportunity. In the case of this job for indoor golf facility Lab 18, it all started on common ground — golf. The owner of Lab 18 in Roslyn, N.Y., and Sage AV CEO Justin Schwartz share a passion for the game, and it led to the New York City-based integrator collecting a major victory.
The bond over golf led to early discussions when the Lab 18 facility was merely a concept, with the owner seeking Schwartz’s expertise on integrating state-of-the-art technology into the heart of the venture, according to Sage AV.
Ease of use was paramount, according to Schwartz. The design allows even tech novices to engage with the TrackMan golf simulator effortlessly or switch to alternative video sources for entertainment.
A dedicated assistance button at each bay was also integrated, summoning staff at the touch of a button.
At the core of Lab 18‘s tech is the golf technology itself, with TrackMan delivering top-tier golf simulators and Puttview enhancing the indoor putting green experience with their cutting-edge projection mapping system.

The suite of AV technologies is anchored by WyreStorm’s AVoIP system for video distribution and Sonos for music distribution. Sage AV pivoted to Savant for controls during the process.
“In the end, it turned out to be the right solution and has provided seamless control. We also incorporated BrightSign media players for digital signage throughout,” Schwartz explains.
“Flexibility was key. As is often the case, the project evolved with new onsite requests and changes to the layout and design. Our team adeptly navigated these changes, ensuring they were not just met but exceeded expectations.”
The journey from concept to design spanned over a year, with the final installation phase unfolding over 3-4 months.
Pool of People Pull Together Final Project Results
Dana Saide orchestrated the project’s execution, with Michael Roman and Herley Moran spearheading the design.
John Lau assisted Sage AV with the IT intricacies, and William Sanchez ensured readiness through production planning.
The installation was brought to life by Tony Arines, Raul Siquencia, Dan Papendick, and Jorge Custodio, with MT Galati providing the essential programming finesse, Schwartz notes.
“The client loves how the technology fades into the background, allowing guests to focus on improving their golf game without fussing with the system — true to our goal of making the complex simple,” Schwartz reports.
The success of this project might even lead the integrator and customer to tee off together on a future job.
“We’ve heard rumbles of a second location, a testament to the success of this collaboration. We’re excited about the potential of bringing this experience to even more users in different locations,” Schwartz says.
“If you are in the area, we highly recommend you check the spot out!”
