Xperi, the parent company of TiVo, and TV manufacturer Sharp, will launch smart TVs powered by TiVo beginning in 2024 as part of a multi-year agreement and is eyeing more TV manufacturer partners in 2024.
According to a press release, Sharp’s new line of smart TVs integrated with TiVo’s operating system are designed to give consumers a simplified, universal discovery, providing a user experience that drives TV demand and viewership.
The Sharp TVs powered by TiVo OS will first launch in Europe, but Xperi in its second-quarter earnings report says the company expects TiVo-powered smart TVs to launch in North America in 2024.
In a statement, Sharp’s European vice president of TV-System business unit Nick Chen says the company chose TiVo’s OS because of the product quality and the desire to offer a user experience of Sharp quality elements with more variety and freedom.
“We are excited to give users significantly more control on how to discover and consume content across live TV, news, sports, movies and more,” Chen says.
