Marantz is introducing its CINEMA Series 2 as the next generation of its award-winning home theater receivers. The full lineup consists of the CINEMA 50 Series 2, CINEMA 60 Series 2, CINEMA 60 DAB Series 2 (available in Europe only) and CINEMA 70s Series 2.

According to Marantz, the new Series 2 builds on the performance, design and ease of use of the current CINEMA range, introducing improvements in sound quality, connectivity, gaming compatibility and installation flexibility.

Inside the Marantz CINEMA Series 2

At the heart of every CINEMA Series 2 receiver is a new 32-bit, eight-channel DAC, which Marantz says delivers greater precision, improved imaging, enhanced dynamic expression and more coherent surround performance throughout the listening environment. The new CINEMA Series 2 models also introduce support for 1440p video pass-through together with AMD FreeSync compatibility for gaming.

Dirac Live Room Correction is now also available as an additional cost option on the CINEMA 60 Series 2, CINEMA 60 DAB Series 2 and CINEMA 70s Series 2, joining the CINEMA 50 in offering Dirac Live upgradeability. The CINEMA 50 Series 2 continues to support the full Dirac ecosystem, including Room Correction, Bass Control and Active Room Treatment (ART).

Exclusive to the CINEMA 50 Series 2, the new Dolby Atmos Channel Expander further enhances immersion by utilizing all available speakers when playing channel-based Dolby Atmos content. The CINEMA 50 Series 2 also introduces Center Bi-Amp Mode, for improved dialogue clarity, complementing the existing Bi-Amp mode for compatible front left and right speakers.

A future firmware update will also add Low-Latency Bluetooth LE Audio, as well as an upgraded HEOS platform, delivering a more responsive streaming experience while expanding multi-room functionality.

Installation & Control

According to Marantz, the entire line is configurable and controllable via Web Control 2.0. In addition, for professional custom installers, HDMI Diagnostics 2.0 within CI Mode provides automated HDMI verification and advanced troubleshooting capabilities, streamlining installation and reducing setup time.

There’s also a Channel Level Monitoring feature that provides real-time visualization of channel activity across all CINEMA Series 2 models, which Marantz says makes it easier to verify speaker operation and system performance.

All models continue to feature full-channel preamp outputs, as well, enabling integration with external power amplifiers.
