Key Takeaways

  • Skyworth partners with hydroframes to offer customizable wood and molded frames for its Canvas and Canvas Elite Art TVs, giving integrators more design flexibility.
  • Frames are available in standard finishes or fully custom designs, with hydroframes using hydrographics printing and CNC manufacturing at its Chicago-area facility.
  • The partnership targets the custom integration channel, with easy magnetic or snap-on installation and support for Skyworth expanding Art TV lineup, including models up to 100 inches.

Skyworth has partnered with Chicago-area manufacturer hydroframes to offer customizable frames for its Canvas and Canvas Elite Art TV product lines, giving custom integrators additional design options for residential installations.

The partnership marks hydroframes’ first commercial collaboration and expands the customization possibilities for SKYWORTH’s growing Art TV lineup. The companies say the frames will be manufactured in the Chicago area and offered in standard finishes including black, silver, gold, white, and walnut. Integrators will also be able to work directly with hydroframes to create custom frame colors and patterns tailored to individual projects.

According to Skyworth, the partnership is intended to help integrators better match Art TVs to a home’s interior design while offering clients more personalized installation options.

“When we set out to elevate the Canvas experience, we wanted a partner whose craftsmanship matched our ambition for the category,” said Michael Gleason, director of sales for Skyworth USA. “hydroframes brings exactly that. Their customization capabilities open up real creative freedom for our custom integrator partners, and we’re excited to be the first brand to bring their work to market.”

hydroframes said it manufactures its frames using hydrographics water-transfer printing technology, allowing a wide variety of patterns and finishes to be applied. The company’s Chicago-area facility also utilizes CNC machining for precision manufacturing.

“Launching with Skyworth is the ideal introduction for hydroframes, and we couldn’t ask for a better first partner,” said Dan Mangan, marketing director for hydroframes. “We’re intentionally focused on the custom integrator channel to start, where attention to detail and personalization truly matter.”

The companies say installation is designed to be straightforward. Wood frames attach magnetically to the existing bezel of compatible Skyworth Canvas TVs, while plastic-molded versions fit directly over the bezel.

Why Art TVs are a Growing Category

Skyworth’s Canvas and Canvas Elite Art TVs are designed to function as both televisions and digital artwork displays, showing digital art or personal photography when not in use. The Canvas Elite lineup includes 100-inch and 86-inch models featuring the company’s OmniView Matte Screen technology, while the Canvas series is available in 55-, 65-, and 75-inch screen sizes.

This move follows a recurring trend in the premium TV market with manufacturers elevating the design of TVs with art-inspired accessories and frames. LG, one of the larger holdouts on this trend, has recently jumped into this growing category.

Manufacturers say the goal of the growing art TV category is to make televisions blend into a home’s décor rather than appear as large black screens when not in use. Products such as SKYWORTH’s Canvas line and Samsung’s The Frame are designed to resemble framed artwork or photographs, displaying personal photos or digital artwork instead of a blank screen.
