Crestron, a popular manufacturer of residential electronics systems, including control and automation solutions, has introduced its new Horizon Keypad and Dimmers.
The N.J.-based manufacturer states that its latest products were developed with the design needs of today’s smart home consumers in mind, including the products’ aesthetics and functionality.
“Our next generation of Crestron Horizon keypads take every aspect of this product to the next level and are a thoughtful addition to the Crestron lighting line. The ways in which dealers can not only configure the keypads but also order and install is a huge win for both customers and dealers,” says Michael Short, senior director of residential & hospitality Marketing at Crestron.
“The other major aspect is how beautiful these new keypads look; they are a perfect complement to any home.”
Horizon Keypads and Dimmers Complement Modern Home Spaces
Explaining the research and development (R&D) behind the newly announced line of interface products, Crestron says today’s homeowners want products that are unobtrusive when not in use, and easy to use when these products are needed. These elements the company continues means that attention to detail must be an important part of the product developmental process, including fit-and-finish and ergonomics.

Addressing these requirements Crestron emphasizes the Horizon Keypads and Dimmers feature clean designs with improved colors, finish and alignment to complement a range of interior spaces. As part of its design emphasis on its new interface products, Crestron points out the products employ subtle button protrusions that provides users tactile feedback when pressed. Crestron also points out the buttons are laid out in a single-piece design that is said to improve alignment and consistency for users.
Elaborating on some of the other design elements the products offer homeowners, the global electronics company notes the keypad and dimmers’ backlighting offers the ability to adjust color temperature. This option’s “dim-to-warm” capabilities uses a local ambient sensor to automatically set the button backlight to cooler or warmer based on the intensity of a room’s lighting.
Contributing to the wellness capabilities of the new Horizon Keypads and Dimmers, Crestron says that it has eliminated the “shine” of the products and “light bleed” to help homeowners get a more restful night’s sleep when a room’s lighting is turned off.
The Horizon Keypads and Dimmers are available in a choice of six configurations that include single-button options up to five buttons in a single gang arrangement. Crestron also notes the color control options integrated into the products can make the keypads and dimmers more intuitive for users, and through the combination of visual elements and lighting, using the interface devices is easy for homeowners to understand. An example Crestron illustrates is a security button that lights up red when activated and green when the system is off.
Crestron adds that it supports the Horizon Keypads and Dimmers with custom engraving capabilities. Using its Impress software the company says dealers can create personalized engravings mixing fonts and foreign characters to support unique visuals and icons. Crestron stresses that engraving specified before device shipping will be preinstalled and included as part of the wider bulk-packing process for the entire product line to save time during the installation process.
Additionally, integrators with current open Horizon keypad and dimmer orders can convert existing orders to the new styles, with shipping to begin in May 2023. The new Crestron Horizon keypads and dimmers have an MSRP starting at $350 with pricing dependent upon customization and configuration.
