Melendrez has twice been honored as Billboard Magazine’s “National Radio Personality of the Year, inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame and included in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as one of the “Top 100 Radio Personalities of All-Time.”
His leadership as program director and on-air entertainer at some of America’s greatest radio stations in Los Angeles and Texas has garnered stellar ratings and numerous awards.

Notably, Melendrez’s hosting and motivational speaking engagements include prestigious events like the White House Hispanic Heritage Awards (seven times) and the USO’s 40th Anniversary Gala in Paris.
As host of the Disney Channel children’s series, “You and Me, Kid,” (1983-90) Melendrez enjoyed one of the longest runs in the network’s history, he notes.
Passionate about children’s causes, Melendrez created The Children of the World Project, giving talented youth and countless volunteers a way to give back by recording the children’s version of “We Are the World,” benefitting USA for Africa and garnering a Grammy nomination.
