06.26.2007 — If some porn business was going to embrace Apple's iPhone, then it would HAVE to be Digital Playground, truly an innovator when porn meets modern technology.

Today, the prolific producer of high-brow XXX movies announced it would be the first provider of porn movies for Apple iPhone users.

Digital Playground has been a pioneer in bringing high-def XXX movies to the public. In fact, some thought Digital Playground's decision on the HD DVD vs. Blu-ray battle would actually determine the winner.

At first it looked like DP would go with Blu-ray, but then the porn production company switched to HD DVD and apparently hasn't looked back.

Now DP has teamed with Adult DVD Empire, an online reseller of porn flicks, to "offer complete hard-core scenes for iPhone."

DP is happy about the deal. The press release reads:

Digital Playground President Samantha Lewis is in awe. "I'm so honored to know that Digital Playground is the first AGAIN. I'd like to thank all of our friends at Apple and Adult DVD Empire for their combined efforts to see this through."


Pat Robertson will never buy an iPhone now.

Honestly? Sony, the infamous porn snubber, should watch carefully. The availability of good sex on iPhones will help push sales dramatically. iPhone won't need the help early on, but the influential XXX industry will certainly help the cause going forward.

iPhone will be released on Friday, June 29.

Apple stock surely will rise on news of porn availability for the iPhone. But AT&T will fare even better. The exclusive provider of iPhone service will benefit from those bandwidth-sucking downloads.

Digital Playground is offering 158 full-length trailers available free of charge, for immediate download. Follow the simple instructions and DP's trailers will automatically download to the podcast folder.

OK, long story. Interviewed them awhile ago on the HD DVD, Blu-ray thing, so I got on their press list. Once in awhile you get a real gem in there….
