For years Triad Speakers has been a leader in the home theater market, and since the introduction of object-based surround sound, that trend has continued.
At ISE 2017 the Ore.-based manufacturer partnered with the new European electronics company StormAudio to present immersive audio demonstrations at the annual trade event.
Triad says the demonstrations illustrated the similarities and differences between Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D.
“Understanding the distinctions and likenesses of the formats, including how they pertain to speaker placement, is crucial for dealers and distributors to know,” says Mike Budd, international sales director, Triad Speakers.
Using different speaker configurations for the respective formats, the partnering companies used a 13.1 speaker array for the Auro-3D format; they employed a 7.1.6 configuration for Dolby Atmos, and a 7.1.4 system for DTS:X.
StormAudio points out that its processors are compatible with todays formats. They also include upgrade paths to help ensure compatibility with future formats. The products incorporate calibration tools to aid dealers integrate the product into a variety of home environments.
Triad says its product line includes a selection of in-room and architectural products that includes a selection of Dolby Atmos-enabled loudspeakers.
