After announcing its Pro Series of smart TVs earlier this year, Roku has declared its new premium televisions are available for purchase at Best Buy stores, as well as online at BestBuy.com, Amazon.com, and Walmart.com.
Created by Roku’s Advanced TV Technology team, Pro Series TVs are engineered to be a step above Roku’s flagship models, bringing AI image correction, Dolby Atmos Surround speakers and a specialized “game mode” for gaming systems to Roku’s product line, to name a few.
According to Roku, the Pro Series uses mini-LED backlighting for deep blacks and highlights, with a 4K, QLED, 120Hz panel that produces, according to Roku, more than a billion colors, along with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ.
Powering the Pro Series is an all-new flagship processor and upgraded memory architecture, with Roku stating that they are some of the advanced Roku devices ever. The Pro Series also comes equipped with a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) that ties into its AI image correction feature, Smart Picture Max, which uses AI to refine color, contrast, and sharpness in real-time scene-by-scene.
Roku is also adding a slightly less robust Roku Smart Picture feature to all Roku-branded smart TVs. Rather than needing a hardware upgrade, this version of Smart Picture uses custom metadata from channel partners to automatically adjust picture modes before content even starts to play. Roku states that all Roku branded TVs will receive the baseline Smart Picture through an automatic software update.

Any Roku-branded TV purchased in the spring 2024 and onward will come with Roku Smart Picture as the default, and those purchased before that date will need to enable it (in picture settings).
Rounding out the viewing experience, Pro Series TVs will also come with Roku Soundstage Audio, which projects sound out and around the viewer through the Pro Series’ new side-firing speakers, for rich spatial effects and deep bass.
Users who buy the Roku Pro Series will also receive the new Roku Voice Remote Pro 2nd edition, which now includes touch-activated backlit buttons, USB-C charging, and a reimagined shortcut experience to quickly access live TV or a current binge-watch show. The remote will also light up when a user says “Hey Roku” or when using Find My Remote.
Pro Series TVs also come with a dedicated remote finder button on the side of the TV that triggers a chime on the remote.
Roku’s Revamped OS Experience
With the Pro Series, Roku is also introducing Backdrops, a new experience that will soon be available to all Roku TVs and streaming devices, that allows users to transform their TV into a work of art and be part of a home’s décor, much like Samsung’s Frame TV or LG’s ArtCool.
According to Roku, users can browse through a wide catalog of free delightful artwork, including famous classics, museum collections, abstract designs, and more, and choose the art to update the vibe of your room. Users can select their favorite artwork or easily upload digital art or family photos to curate their very own collection to display.
Regular Roku users and those who buy the Roku Pro Series will also gain access to IMDB integrations that will not only feature IMDB ratings on specific content, but also offer recommendations based on peer viewings and ratings.
Roku will also be incorporating trailers into its platforms so users can more easily preview TV shows or movies they might be interested in seeing.
Additionally, the Roku App is getting several upgrades, including:
- A new navigation bar that lets users browse between five universal tabs: Home, Search, Remote, Devices, and Account.
- An all all-new “Top Searched TV and Movies” row, where users can scroll through what’s popular with other streamers and tune in. The row will be populated with daily searched TV shows and movies from across the platform.
- And a full interactive keyboard.
These features will be doled out to all Roku users via a series of software updates in the coming months.
