New $80 AirTV Mini Offers OTA, Streams 4K Content

The $80 AirTV Mini 4K streaming stick is an affordable device that cord-cutters can use to consolidate their OTA and streaming media content without sacrificing access to 4K video.

Designed for cord-cutters and other similar types of consumers, the $80 AirTV Mini consolidates streaming content including 4K, with broadcast OTA television.

Available from AirTV, the AirTV mini is powered by Android TV, and the small, palm-sized product integrates Sling TV, Netflix and OTA channels into a single user interface to offer users a complete entertainment solution when used with an OTA antenna.

“The AirTV brand is committed to making local TV relevant and easily accessible to streamers,” notes Mitch Weinraub, director of product development for AirTV.

“The AirTV Mini is a powerhouse streaming stick with more memory and a faster processor than anything else in the category. When combined with the AirTV network tuner and the Sling TV app, the Mini delivers a superior streaming experience, especially for Slingers who want premium features in a small package at an affordable price.”

AirTV Mini Includes Google Assistant

According to the company, setup of the AirTV Mini is simple.

AirTV explains that all integrators need to do is plug the device into a television's HDMI port. Once connected, the device automatically opens up into the Sling TV app and users will see Netflix integrated into that interface.

The company also points out that users will also be able to access the thousands of apps available from Google Play, and it also integrates OTA broadcasts into the interface to provide an integrated Sling TV, Netflix and OTA solution.

Some of the other features built into the AirTV Mini include Google Assistant

To access the Google Assistant feature, all users need to do is press the Assistant remote button to quickly receive the latest information regarding items such as weather forecasts, game scores and traffic updates.

Users can also use the assistant to control smart devices such as lighting products and thermostats.

The unit's remote also provides a Netflix button that provides direct access to Netflix.

In addition, the AirTV Mini remote can be programmed to control TVs, soundbars and other components, and it comes with a Sling TV shortcut button.

The shortcut button and voice-control button offer a convenient way to search for content such as specific TV shows and movies.  Voice controls are app sensitive and this option allows users to also execute commands such as “go-to-guide,” “show my DVR” or “rewind 10 seconds.”

AirTV adds that new and eligible existing Sling TV customers can receive the AirTV Wi-Fi network tuner, along with an indoor antenna free when they prepay for three months of Sling TV at a minimum cost of $25.
