Many CE pros have likely heard by now about the patent lawsuit between Snap One, Josh.AI and AVA over the remote design—if not feel free to follow the link to that article. However, many of you may have been quick to question: “Wait, what’s going to happen to integrations between Josh.ai and Control4?” Well, fret not, as Josh.ai recently released a statement stating both companies plan on upholding the current integrations between the two as the lawsuit gets underway. Snap One also separately announced their own commitment to supporting these integrations.
“We wanted to share the commitments Josh.ai and Snap One have shared publicly to help address this directly,” starts off a Medium article addressing Josh.ai’s commitment to supporting its Control4 integrations. “At Josh.ai, we stand behind our commitment and philosophy to work openly with all of the products and services our community values.
“We will do everything we can to maintain the integration as we know how much not just dealers, but customers, depend on this relationship.” In that same article, Josh.ai also notes that the partnership resulting in the integration began well before Control4’s acquisition by Snap One.
In addition, Josh.ai notes that Snap One has sold, marketed and supported Josh.ai products to the dealer community (though it no longer does so at this time).
As such, Josh.ai has stated it fully intends on maintaining that legacy, citing the widespread use of the integration throughout the industry (a fact corroborated by CE Pro’s recent brand analysis featuring input from members of the CE Pro 100, which comprises the 100 highest grossing integration firms within the industry).

Snap One, meanwhile, echoed a similar sentiment, stating that the company was “committed to doing our part” to keep the integrations between Josh.ai and Control4 systems alive.
“Rest assured, Snap One’s dedication to serving our Partners remains unwavering,” Snap One says. “We are committed to doing our part to continue to enable Josh.ai systems to integrate with Control4. We must also take action to protect our IP rights.”
Both Snap One and Josh.ai will be at CEDIA Expo 2023, showcasing a variety of innovations and products each team has developed throughout the year at booths #1512 and #3728, respectively.
Earlier this year, Josh.ai announced that it will be introducing new AI integrations into its platform that utilize generative models akin to ChatGPT, dubbed JoshGPT.
In addition to highlighting several use cases with its Control4 automation system, Snap One will also be showcasing plenty of its commercial solutions as part of Commercial Integrator Expo.
