Providing integrators and their clients with more subwoofer choices, the global audio company KEF, has introduced its new KC92 and Kube MIE Subwoofer series of products.
KEF states that integrators can utilize its latest products to augment their whole-house AV, media system and home theater system installations to help these systems deliver deeper, more involving AV experiences. The popular home audio equipment manufacturer points out the KC92 and Kube MIE series utilize its proprietary Music Integrity Engine Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithm technologies.
According to KEF, its MIE technologies help the KC92 and Kube MIE line of subwoofers maximize their respective designs, and when combined with the company’s iBX Intelligent Bass Extension technologies, the subs are capable of fully realizing the potential of their respective woofers and their excursion capabilities.
KC92 Subwoofer Employs Force-Cancelling Engineering Concepts
KEF says that its new KC92 subwoofer delivers more performance than its size suggests. The sub features a pair of woofers in a force-cancelling configuration, and the unit features KEF’s P-Flex Surround, which the company notes is inspired by Japanese origami. KEF describes the P-Flex Surround technology as a design that resists sonic pressure without sacrificing sensitivity. The technology works like the folds of origami folds through a pleated construction allows the driver to move accurately in response to the audio signals it is being fed.
The home audio company states the KC92 subwoofer is capable of low-frequency extension down to 11Hz using two 9-inch woofers that are driven by 500-watt Class D amplifiers that produce a total of 1,000 watts. The company also points out the subwoofer includes its KEF SmartConnect technology that automatically optimizes gain based on whether a mono or stereo input is connected, and the sub offers a choice of five EQ room placement options to help the KC92 integrate into a wealth of home interiors.

In addition to the KC92 subwoofer, the company also announced its Kube MIE series, which provides a choice of four driver sizes: 15-, 12-, 10-, and 8-inch woofers. The small-footprint line of products incorporate a host of connection and EQ (equalization) options to help facilitate their installation in a variety of home settings.
Helping the Kube MIE series to integrate into home environments, the subwoofers feature the company’s contemporary industrial designs that maximize the look of the subs’ sealed-cabinet designs that house driver and woofer combinations that are meant specifically for each specific subwoofer. Similar to the KC92 subwoofer, the Kube MIE series also provides a choice of room placement settings to allow the subs to reside up against a wall; in a corner, or inside a piece of furniture.
