The home theater is changing, and JVC sees projection playing a role well beyond the traditional dedicated cinema room.
In a CE Pro interview, Jamie Pasley, General Manager of JVC’s Home Theater Projector Division, discusses how the company is adapting its projector technologies to changing expectations for home entertainment.
At the center of JVC’s higher-end projector lineup is its 8K e-shiftX technology. JVC starts with a native 4K D-ILA chipset and shifts pixels in four directions to produce more than 35 million pixels on screen, creating greater detail even when the source material itself is 4K.
Resolution is only one piece of the picture. Pasley explains how JVC combines D-ILA imaging with laser illumination, high native contrast and Frame Adapt HDR. Frame Adapt HDR automatically analyzes changing HDR content and adjusts the image accordingly, reducing the need for users to continually change picture settings.
That emphasis on automation carries into JVC’s broader approach. The company offers automatic calibration and dynamic laser controls while continuing to develop features intended to simplify the viewing experience.
JVC is also responding to the changing ways homeowners use large-screen entertainment. Projectors are increasingly finding their way into game rooms and multipurpose spaces, where motorized lens shift, lens memories, home automation integration and higher-speed HDMI connectivity can give integrators greater flexibility.
Gaming is part of that evolution as well. Auto Low Latency Mode allows compatible projectors to detect gaming devices and automatically reduce unnecessary video processing, helping minimize the delay between controller inputs and on-screen action.
Together, those developments reflect a broader goal for JVC: making premium projection more adaptable, automated and accessible across a wider range of home entertainment applications.
