The N.Y.-based audio manufacturer McIntosh is replacing its MA9000 and MA8900 integrated amplifiers with its new MA9500 and MA8950 integrated amplifiers.
McIntosh explains that its new integrated amplifiers offer 50% more dynamic headroom through increased filter capacities, and the new integrated amps also incorporate the company’s DA2 digital audio module. The DA2 features a quad-balanced 8-channel, 32-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs), and the module provides two coaxial, two optical, 1 USB; a proprietary MCT input, and an audio-only HDMI ARC connection.
Other upgrades to the McIntosh MA9500 and MA8950 integrated amplifiers include upgraded power supplies, and both products incorporate microprocessors to ensure the products run reliably under demanding conditions.
The McIntosh MA9500 is rated to deliver 300 watts per channel, and it provides 10 analog inputs that include two balanced (XLR), six unbalanced (RCA), and a moving coil (MC) and a moving magnet (MM) that both offer adjustable loading. McIntosh also notes the integrated amp also includes its Solid Cinch speaker binding posts, and an eight-band tone control.
The MA8950 is rated to produce 200 watts per channel, and it offers nine analog inputs. Those inputs include one balanced, six unbalanced, one moving coil with adjustable loading, and a moving magnet phono input.
Additionally, the MA8950 features an unbalanced fixed output, and a five-band tone control.
