Hunter Douglas is announcing a new initiative that provides training, tools, and resources specifically for CEDIA-industry professionals to add quality smart shading to their repertoire.
The Hunter Douglas Custom Integrator Program (CIP) gives home technology professionals access to the complete Hunter Douglas portfolio of window treatment designs. It brings a custom approach with color, fabric, size, and shape choices to suit smart home, theater, or whole-home projects instead of offering one shade to fit most installations. CIP is open to authorized integrators of home control systems such as Elan, Control4, Crestron, Savant, RTI, or URC.
It begins with CIP sales and installer training, which provides instruction and education on things like shade sizing and configurations, impact of color and fabric choices on natural light control, and best practices for integrating the advanced Hunter Douglas PowerView motorized shades into an automation project. Integrators in the program will benefit from quoting tools, discounted shades for their own home, and custom display discounts, along with access to online ordering on Hunter Douglas’ portal.
Hunter Douglas provides both motorized and smart options for dozens of its treatment styles. The PowerView Motorization wireless operating system allows users to raise or lower shades in the app or using the Pebble Remote Control or create scenes.
PowerView Motorization is compatible with most major smart home and home automation brands including Apple HomeKit, Control4, Crestron, Elan, Universal Remote Control, RTI, and Savant, as well as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and more.

“We’re able to offer custom window coverings that are stylish, diverse, AND smart – this presents an opportunity for dealers to bring a new feature that enhances their customer experience, as well as to capture new business as homeowners who seek shading solutions are also looking for “smart” and compatible with existing tech in the home they know and love,” says Scott Stephenson, director of product management, motorization, at Hunter Douglas.
“With the Custom Integrator Program, we want to give home technology professionals a way to expand their business and create greater profitability. Hunter Douglas window treatments are beautifully designed but simple to add to any project with tools, services, and training designed for home technology professionals.”
Hunter Douglas Provides Presentation Tools
In addition to training and access to the full Hunter Douglas product line, integrators also receive sampling and presentation tools to demonstrate the quality and capabilities of Hunter Douglas smart shades to clients.
For help installing window treatments, the Hunter Douglas Installation Service (HDIS) is also available as an end-to-end solution that guarantees accurate measuring and proper shade installation, delivered by a nationwide network of independent partners.
Using HDIS also guarantees that the order is placed correctly, and includes a one-year guarantee on the installation itself as well as a five-year warranty on PowerView and a lifetime warranty on the shades.
CEDIA Expo attendees can visit the Hunter Douglas kiosk in the Control4 booth #3013. Hunter Douglas window treatment designs include Duette Honeycomb Shades, Alustra Woven Textures roller shades, Pirouette window shadings, Vignette Duolite Modern Roman Shades, and Silhouette Quartette window shadings.
