I left off several examples of smart homes in film and TV, including Smart House, the 1999 Disney Channel film that follows the typical evil smart home narrative. There are several other examples of evil smart homes, including Margaux, a 2022 horror film about a smart home. Other not-so-positive films about AI and smart homes include Ex Machina, M3gan, Blade Runner 2046.

However, there are other smart home depictions that aren’t so dark or evil, such as Iron Man and Tony Stark’s home automation assistant JARVIS.
