Dirac Expands Active Room Treatment to Virtually Any System

With the addition of Dirac Live Active Room Treatment to the Dirac Live Processor suite, installers need only a PC or Mac to be able to manage a room’s acoustics.

Dirac has some big news for its Live Active Room Treatment, with the Swedish audio company saying that the service is now available within its Dirac Live Processor suite. This builds upon Dirac’s efforts over the past twelve months to expand access to Dirac Live Active Room Treatment through a growing range of home audio collaborations and integrations, including with leading brands such as AudioControl, Denon, Marantz, miniDSP, Monoprice, and StormAudio.

With this launch, Dirac Live Processor now supports the full Dirac Live portfolio, including Dirac Live Room Correction, Dirac Live Bass Control, and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment.

Why integrators should take notice

Room correction and room treatment technologies have become vital in the setup of media rooms today, especially as integrator clients have started to shift away from tailor-made theaters to multifunctional spaces where the acoustic profile of the room is often more varied compared to specialty environments.

The news from Dirac bears thematic semblance to that of the recent HAA Link launch from the Home Acoustics Alliance, that being: make it easier and more convenient for installers to access and run room treatment software. The fact that Dirac Live Active Room Treatment now runs on any PC or Mac makes the software far more accessible for use, being able to be used in audio system now where Dirac Live is not already built in.

Dirac Live Active Room Treatment on the Dirac Live Processor

With the addition of Active Room Treatment, the Dirac notes its Live Processor now supports what the company considers to be its most complete approach to room acoustics management.

“With Active Room Treatment now available, Dirac Live Processor becomes a powerful way to experience our most advanced room acoustics technology in any system,” noted Nilo Casimiro Ericsson, Product Manager for Dirac Live.

According to Dirac, Active Room Treatment builds on Room Correction by using the full speaker array as a coordinated acoustic system, actively working to control room resonances and sound decay to help deliver a cleaner, more controlled soundstage.

With support for VST, VST3, AAX, and AU plug-in formats, the Dirac Live Processor can also be used in compatible DAWs and media players as part of an existing computer-based playback setup, such as in a studio.

Setup is completed by connecting a measurement microphone to the user’s computer. The software guides the room measurement process, analyzes room and system behavior, and helps create filters tailored to the listening environment.

Availability

Active Room Treatment is available on Dirac Live Processor starting June 30, 2026. Existing users of Dirac Live Room Correction Suite will automatically be transitioned to Dirac Live Processor together with their current licenses and settings. Licenses can be purchased with an optional 14-day free trial at www.dirac.com.
