If you had to use Twitter to describe your company (140 character limit), what would you write?

We make technology easy. All the best brands, friendly staff, pro install and competitive prices.

After you complete a project, what do you think your typical client tells his friend about the experience?

Since so much of our business is referral based, I always find out what our past clients say! In addition to raving about the system, they mostly speak highly about our professionalism. "Call BCG Concepts if you don't want a million headaches. They were the best sub on our construction project by far."

What can CE pros learn from your company that might help them run their business better?

When you run a company that is less than five employees that is relatively new, you have fewer jobs in the field and it is not as important to keep detailed system records (serial numbers, wiring schematics, warranty start/end dates), but it becomes increasingly difficult to manage and service the number of jobs you continue to roll out. Keep records and sell service plans.

BCG Concepts, Inc.
  • Principal: Bryan Gorog, president
  • Location: Los Angeles, Calif. (showroom)
  • Web site: http://www.bcgconcepts.com
  • Years in Business: 5
  • Number of employees: 4
  • Residential/Commercial Split: 80%/20%
  • Number of 2009 Installations: 55
  • Top 3 Brands: Crestron, Niles, Samsung
What trade tip can you offer your fellow CE pros?

We implemented using Microsoft Sharepoint a few months back for document sharing. This allows managers, installers and programmers to have a central database to access to look for plans, scope of works, past system notes and gives them the ability to edit in the field.

What's the wildest request you've ever had for an installation?

We have had a couple clients request that we integrate their old DVD recorders into systems, where they don't make much sense. They want the ability to record in case they run out of the hundreds of hours of recording time across multiple DVRs.

What is your 3D strategy, and will 3D live up to the hype?

We have embraced 3D when our past clients inquire about it. We inform them of the content limitations, price of glasses and lack of current projection options. During new job walks, we encourage clients to get only one or two 3D-capable setups in larger projects as the technology has a long way to go.

What is your absolute favorite piece of audio demo material?

Peter Gabriel's Growing Up Tour DVD has been a favorite for a long time because we can feature a great video experience with a great audio track. Not being in the 2-channel business, we usually don't demo high-end audio only.

What is your absolute favorite piece of video demo material?

The new Sherlock Holmes Blu-ray has amazing picture and a great surround mix. That really blows people away. Especially the scene where the ship breaks free of the dry-dock.

What is something about you that most people don't know?

I am terrified of heights. No joke.

I am happy to hear of Bryan Gorog’s well deserved recognition as CE Pro Of The Week at BCG Concepts.  He is a knowledgeable, professional, young, businessman and incredibly talented when it comes to technology.  I was recommended to Bryan by friends that purchased home systems from him at very competitive prices.  Thanks to Bryan and his crew, I now have a very impressive home theatre system.
