CEDIA to Reveal 2026 Smart Home Market Data at CEDIA Expo

Published: August 25, 2026

CEDIA will unveil findings from its 2026 U.S. Professional Smart Home Market Analysis during a Town Hall at CEDIA Expo, giving attendees an early look at data on the state of the residential technology industry.

The CEDIA Town Hall, sponsored by Sony, is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1 from 5:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Mile High Ballroom. The event is free for CEDIA members and nonmembers.

CEDIA Research to Examine AI, Revenue and Integrator Challenges

According to CEDIA, the 2026 research is designed to provide a snapshot of technology adoption, installation trends and other factors affecting the professional smart home market.

Among the topics the research will examine are the biggest challenge currently facing integrators, the impact of artificial intelligence on integration businesses and expectations for industry revenue over the coming year.

The report will also rank leading brands and examine how integrators are deploying their products.

“The smart home industry continues to evolve, and having reliable market intelligence is essential for manufacturers, integrators, and industry partners alike,” said Ryan Bardach, Director of Research at CEDIA. “This research provides an objective view of where the market stands today, and attendees of the Town Hall will be the first to learn how to use it to improve their business.”

Farnsworth Group to Present Findings

Grant Farnsworth, President of The Farnsworth Group, will deliver an in-depth presentation of the research during the Town Hall. His presentation will also cover additional market insights and trends in the U.S. housing market.

An open Q&A session will follow the presentation.

Ahead of the Town Hall, CEDIA members are invited to a Member Reception from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the Mile High Ballroom.

The Town Hall can be added to an attendee’s CEDIA Expo registration and is open to both CEDIA members and nonmembers.

Research Marks First Major Release from CEDIA’s New Division

The findings presented at CEDIA Expo will also represent the first major output from CEDIA’s new in-house research division, which the association announced in May 2026.

The division is led by Ryan Bardach, who was appointed CEDIA’s Director of Research and tasked with building out the association’s research function. CEDIA said at the time that the initiative was intended to provide integrators, manufacturers and other industry stakeholders with more actionable market intelligence.

CEDIA initially said its 2026 research would examine brand preferences, revenue trends, overall market size, projected industry growth and interest in AI adoption. The latest details about the Town Hall provide a clearer picture of that work, including research into the challenges facing integrators, expectations for revenue over the coming year and how leading brands are being deployed.

The research initiative adds another source of data for a custom integration market where detailed business intelligence has historically been relatively limited. CE Pro conducts its own industry research through its Deep Dive surveys, while D-Tools has increasingly used aggregated data from its business management platforms to provide insights into integrator operations and business performance.

When CEDIA announced the division in May, the association said its goal was to establish a more consistent source of market intelligence for the professional smart home channel and help companies use the findings to inform areas such as pricing, service offerings and long-term business strategy.
