Comcast’s smart technologies division is teaming up with electric vehicle charging provider NovaCHARGE on a collaboration that expands Comcast’s suite of smart technology offerings to include smart EV charging stations for businesses, multifamily properties and mixed-use development.
As carmakers have continued to expand the availability and affordability of electric vehicles (EVs), requisite charging infrastructure has been slow to catch up, which, as Comcast notes, will serve as a significant hurdle to widespread adoption. While many view the installation of home charging infrastructure as a solution to a lack of charging infrastructure, others cite the need for more robust commercial infrastructure options.
According to Comcast, its Comcast Smart Solutions division will team up with NovaCHARGE to bring smart EV charging stations to Comcast Business and Xfinity Communities customers, including local governments, multifamily properties, businesses and more.
The NovaCHARGE EV charging stations will include access to ChargeUP, the company’s charging platform management system, and NovaBOT proactive monitoring and analysis.
According to Comcast, the agreement combines the company’s expertise in smart technology and connectivity with NovaCHARGE’s open standards-based technology and track record for delivering robust and reliable charging experiences for EV station owners, hosts and drivers.

The EV solution portfolio includes hardware, software, network, optional turnkey installation, maintenance, upgrade services and customers support, the companies say.
Mike Slovin, vice president and manager of Comcast Smart Solutions, says the collaboration strengthens the company’s solutions portfolio and caters to the specific needs for secure, flexible and scalable solutions for customers.
“We are excited to collaborate with NovaCHARGE to enhance the accessibility of high-powered EV charging solutions across the country,” Slovin says.
For NovaCHARGE, the partnership will help the company meet the need for adequate and reliable charging infrastructure and increase adoption of EVs altogether, says Oscar Rodriguez, the company’s chairman and CEO.
“Through our collaboration with Comcast Smart Solutions, we are furthering our commitment to address this crucial need by offering highly customizable solutions that put customer needs first,” Rodriguez says.
