At CEDIA 2014, Niles introduced Auriel, a new multi-zone audio ecosystem anchored by the award-winning MRC-6430 six source, six zone controller. In addition to integrating multi-room audio and home theater control in a single chassis solution, the Auriel Set-up Wizard won over many dealers with its simplified solution to configuring sources, zones and interface devices. Auriel fully embodied the Niles “One touch to music” ethos.
Now, Niles steps up the game with its Auriel 2.0 software release. Auriel 2.0 adds built-in streaming audio services, climate and lighting control, plus remote access – and the result is an exceptional home control experience. What’s more is that the software update enables any existing Auriel system to easily upgrade to the additional control features. One touch to music is now “One touch to control.”
Even with these new control features, the Auriel Wizard makes set-up as integrator-friendly as ever. Through the Wizard and a tablet or PC, the installer is whisked through simple decisions that quickly configure the system for sources, zone preferences, user interface customization, home theater control, lighting scenes and thermostat programming. It takes only minutes to personalize Auriel and this means saving valuable time on every project.
Built-In Streaming Audio
Streaming audio was one of the most requested features integrators had asked for, and Auriel does this by adding a seventh source to the MRC-6430. Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn and many other popular Internet radio services are included. The new streaming source plus the chassis’ six additional input sources deliver audio to six zones, four of which are amplified. All zones are equipped for both fixed and variable pre-amp outputs, enabling anyone to add extra amplification and volume wherever needed. Two chassis can be linked together to create a 12-zone system for larger homes. And the seamless integration of a home theater zone with the whole home audio zones continues to shine through in Auriel 2.0. Homeowners can use their architectural speakers to announce guests at the door with the optional Niles DBI-2 doorbell interface, temporarily muting any audio so that the doorbell can be clearly heard in every room.
Control Lighting and Climate
Lighting control is another big addition in the new Auriel 2.0 release., with convenient control of today's popular lighting control systems, including Lutron Caseta and RadioRA 2, Pulseworxs PIM-IP and PGW, Clipsal, Rako and Z-Wave lighting devices (via the VeraEdge Gateway) from the Auriel interface. Climate control is a breeze with the new Auriel 2.0 update. Easily set temperature levels and schedules for up to three wireless thermostats including AprilAire, CoolMaster IP, Lutron RadioRA 2, and other Z-Wave thermostats (via the VeraEdge Gateway).
Users will enjoy the fully updated user interface that renders identically across all supported devices, including the Niles Auriel app available for iOS and Android devices. This mobile interface allows “one touch to control” from anywhere with an internet connection for an extra level of comfort and convenience. Auriel households never have to worry about whether the lights were left on, or having to walk into a cold, dark, house again. And when they are home, the control interfaces in the Auriel ecosystem provide ultimate convenience, from the nHR200 hand-held remote to the nTP7 and nTP4 in-wall touch panels or nKP7 seven-button keypad.
Time-saving Wizard Set-up
We’d be remiss if we didn’t again mention the Auriel Wizard. The time saved with this essential tool adds up to measurable cost savings on every project.
