Thank Goodness for Allen Wrenches!
Do your technicians carry a set of handy Allen wrenches in their trucks? I discovered I have 41 of them!
I spent the past several weeks enjoying a D-Box Motion Simulator in my home (stay tuned for the review). But to connect the stabilizer bars for the D-Box unit to the actual motion modules, I needed two different sets of Allen wrenches.
Thank goodness we’ve purchased many pieces of Swedish furniture at IKEA over the years, because when I retrieved my toolbox, it was a mess. The box had one nice set of Allen wrenches in a plastic case that I likely bought at Home Depot many years ago, and a jumbled mess of individual wrenches.
To secure the D-Box unit, it meant pulling every one out individually and testing it in the screw head. The frustrating part about these L-shaped tools is that unlike open-ended or closed-ended wrenches, there are no size indicators etched into them.
I have duplicates of duplicates, but I don’t dare throw any of them away! In the end, my toolbox contained 41 different Allen wrenches.
The D-Box setup got me thinking: do your techs carry a set of Allen wrenches? Are there other necessary tools that are just as frustrating?
