Russound Touchpoint Controls Audio Systems via iPhone
The Touchpoint interface wirelessly controls RNET multiroom audio systems.
Russound's new RNET Touchpoint wirelessly controls zones and components in RNET multiroom audio systems via iPhone or iPod touch.
The Touchpoint interface, Russound's first control solution for the iPhone or iPod touch, links a home network to a Russound system.
Users then save the Touchpoint's IP address as a bookmark on the iPhone or iPod touch, giving them one-touch access to controls for any zone or component in the system.
"The RNET Touchpoint is more than an application for the iPhone or iPod touch," says Russound product manager Roger Soucy. "It's a true IP-to-serial control interface that gives users a convenient, one-touch wireless control solution, through a platform that they’re already comfortable with, and without the need for any additional downloads or plug-ins."
Control functions include:
The commands users enter into Touchpoint are converted from HTML to RS232 serial data and sent to the audio system via the USB to Serial adapter cables. The Touchpoint hardware can be connected to wireless access points (WAPs) or routers via wireless 802.11a/b/g or CAT-5.
Russound's Touchpoint control system will be available in June $599.

I currently have Russound in several of my rooms. I already have a RS 232 conection but perhaps it will not work with this application. I would like to view my security cameras and control my system with as iPod Touch or an iPad. Will it also intergrate with my HAI security system? I was considering the new Universal Control 400 system but it is pricery than the Rnet. Many thanks for yor help.

Hey Nuvo - this is what you should have done instead of developing that stupid remote! We might have to switch to Russound now (cause no well in hell will I go with the degenerate company Speakercraft for just an iPhone app).
