3 Pioneer Blu-ray Players Receive DivX Certification
Certification enables players to play back DivX video saved on CDs and DVDs.

10.02.2008 — Three of Pioneer's Blu-ray players — BDP-LX71, BDP-LX08, BDP-51FD — have received DivX Certification.

The DivX technology enables the units to play back DivX video saved on CDs and/or DVDs.

Pioneer's first DivX-Certified Blu-ray players will be available in October. The BDP-LX08 is being released only in Europe.

"Our standard DVD players that obtained DivX Certification have shipped worldwide, meeting the increasing consumer demand for devices that play high-quality DivX video," says Ryuichiro Yoshimura, GM of Pioneers video planning department

"By supporting DivX in our newest Blu-ray Disc Player, we are now able to provide consumers with a greater video experience."

Pioneer unveiled the BDP-51FD in May. It's a Profile 1.1 player with BonusView and HDMI 1.3a.

  • Dolby Digital Plus/Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD(a)/DTS HD Master(a)
  • 7.1 Channel Analog Output
  • Advanced Audio Bitstream
  • 4 Wolfson Professional Audio DACs
