TVs dangling by a thread, or in this case locking HDMI cables from PPC

Let’s face it, integrators have a love-hate relationship with HDMI cables. They fall out of components. They’re terribly unforgiving if you bend them too far or damage the connector. And that’s just the beginning.

For the past couple of years, cable manufacturers have implemented clever ways to overcome the inherent problems of the HDMI standard.

PPC, for example, started the “locking HDMI” movement back in 2008, but other contenders have emerged since then to provide solutions for the nagging problem of HDMI cables falling out of components.

Numerous other manufacturers have made cables and connectors that flex, pivot and terminate in the field.

Who really has the hardiest HDMI cables?

During CES 2010, strongmen from PPC (Perfect Path) and DirectConnect showed us just how beefy they are. The cables, that is.

Judge for yourself.
