Back before digital audio players were standard equipment in the lineups of consumer audio companies, Bryston offered music enthusiasts its BDP-1 digital music player.
Now several product generations later the Canadian manufacturer has announced its BDP-3 digital audio player, which it says provides music lovers with a “reference quality entertainment hub capable of reading virtually all digital file formats and resolutions, including DSD 128 and PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz.”
“We had an opportunity to leverage some exciting new technologies in order to improve our flagship music player,” says James Tanner, vice president of Bryston. “Our objective was to bring added speed, enhanced performance and flexibility to our lineup and the BDP-3 delivers resoundingly.”
At the heart of the company's latest digital music player is an Intel processor and 8GBs of RAM.
Further enhancing the BDP-3's playback capabilities are three USB 3.0 ports and five USB 2.0 ports that are connected to separate USB buses to ensure better connectivity for connected disc drives when using the product's USB 3.0 ports, and improved compatibility when using digital-to-analog converters (DACs).
The player's performance enhancements also cover DACs enabled with the Streamlength protocol when using DACs as part of a digital music system.
Bryston explains that when connecting the BDP-3 to DACs using S/PDIF or AES/EBU, listeners will benefit from its Integrated Audio Device (IAD) technology that replaces traditional sound cards.When using the IAD technology, the digital jitter errors are so low they are almost undetectable by measuring devices.
The company adds the BDP-3 is also Roon Ready to provide users with a music playback experience that is easy to use while managing their music libraries.
Bryston is taking preorders on its BDP-3 Digital Music Player (MRSP $3,495). The company says the product is set to deliver in six to eight weeks.
