Ronnie Meyerowitz – Founder, Audio Associates – Decades ago, big-city manufacturers’ reps faced a choice. They could skew their business model toward the mass market or create a line card of higher-end vendors and call on the emerging class of specialty shops. Meyerowitz chose the latter and over time built a metro-New York rep firm that was the envy of his peers nationwide. As the industry evolved toward custom, so did Audio Associates, which became known for its many off-site dealer shows that were as much about training as they were about sales. Meyerowitz, a self-described schlepper (from the old Yiddish term for hauling around), is still putting 60,000 annual miles on his car making sales calls in one of the nation’s geographically smallest territories.
