First CE Integrators Earn DHTI+ Certification
S&S Electric now employs two DHTI+ integrators.
Two integrators from S&S Electric, a home systems integration firm based in Oldsmar, Fla., are among the first CE professionals to earn the designation of Certified Digital Home Technology Integrator (DHTI+).
Company vice president Shawn L. Smith and home systems designer Suzanne Colson earned the DHTI+ certification from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) TechHome Division and the Computing Technologies Industry Association (CompTIA), which created the program to validate expertise in configuration, integration, troubleshooting and maintenance of digital home networks.
Industry experts and professionals from around the world were invited recently by CEA-CompTIA to participate in the beta certification program to evaluate and guide its development.
"CEA-CompTIA DHTI+ is the premier certification for demonstrating competency in installing the products and various applications comprising today's digital home platforms," says Kerry Moyer, executive director, CEA TechHome. "The growth in digital home technology not only enhances consumers' lifestyles, it places new demands on technology integrators."
To receive certification, an applicant must have at least 18 months of experience in related systems integration field work and pass a 90-minute, 97-question exam.
"Our goal at S&S is to stay ahead of the advanced technology curve and utilize our knowledge to create homes that are uniquely functional and aesthetically pleasing for our customers by integrating innovative technology systems."
DHTI+ was developed by the CEA TechHome Division and is administered by the global testing resources of CompTIA.
