EH Publishing Names Arlen Schweiger New Electronic House Editor
Schweiger (Twitter: @ArlenSchweiger) returns to Electronic House, where he served as managing editor from 2007 to 2010, to lead a veteran editorial team that will continue to provide readers their expert voice on today’s “guide to connected living.” The move is effective immediately, as Electronic House begins work on its January/February 2013 issue. Schweiger is a longtime home theater enthusiast and audiophile, who can usually be found listening to his extensive vinyl record collection or watching the latest Blu-ray concert release. He has also logged countless miles walking the show floors at the industry’s annual CEDIA Expo, CES, InfoComm and Integrated Systems Europe tradeshows.
“With all of the innovation in mobile- and tablet-based applications, higher-quality audio and video products, and home networking and automation conveniences it’s exciting to be part of a publication whose central message is how it all ties together to help homeowners,” says Schweiger, who is based at EH Publishing’s Framingham, Mass., headquarters. “I’m looking forward to working with an energetic editorial and art staff that will keep Electronic House ahead of the technology curve, and maintaining our close relationships with the manufacturing and custom electronics professional communities that play such an integral role in our message.”
Veteran Electronic House writer Lisa Montgomery assumes the role of executive editor and will continue delivering her expert electronics trends analysis and stories of how custom electronics professionals have transformed homeowners’ residences into awe-inspiring showcases of sophisticated technology.
Schweiger has held various editorial roles since joining EH Publishing in 2006, including most recently as managing editor of CE Pro and Commercial Integrator magazines. Prior to joining EH Publishing, he worked in newspapers for nearly a decade as a writer and editor in the sports department of three New England-area papers. Schweiger holds degrees from the University of Richmond and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
“We at EH are very proud of Arlen’s career growth, contributions to the betterment of the custom electronics channel,” says Steve Martini, EH Publishing’s chief operating officer. “We’re excited about what he can do as the editorial leader of an already strong team supporting Electronic House magazine and web. He knows the products, services and needs of the reader and has great new ideas from which to guide the brand forward.”
