Cabasse Set to Debut La Sphère Speakers
Speakers pack four drivers into a coaxial arrangement and cover 20-20Khz range.
Cabasse is getting set for the North American launch of its reference La Sphère speakers.
The French manufacturer says its has poured its 60-years of experience into these speakers that cover the 20-20Khz range.
The speakers, driven by 5.2 kilowatts of amplification, use Cabasse's four-way active digital processor for precision crossover and filtering.
La Sphère speakers, which were first introduced at CES 2007, are four-way coaxial point-source loudspeakers, meaning the sound emanates from the same point.
All four of the drivers, including the 22-inch woofer and 1.2-inch dome tweeter, are packed into that coaxial arrangement. The speakers also feature an 8-inch low/midrange unit with a Duocell ring design and a 5-inch mid-range.
The speakers have a spherical enclosure, which Cabasse says provides the smallest form factor possible while preventing internal standing waves.
The speakers are a tad pricey at $140,000 per pair. If you want amplifiers with the speakers, it will run you $165,000.
The North American retail debut is set for August 15 by Systems Design Group in Redondo Beach, California.
