Kaleidescape has announced its largest capacity movie server to date, and it’s all coming with the compact footprint and near-instantaneous recall of a solid-state drive (SSD). The new Compact Terra Prime 246TB SSD was announced during CEDIA Expo 2026, where Kaleidescape will be exhibiting from Sept. 2 – 4 while the show floor is open.
Features of the Compact Terra Prime 246TB Movie Server
Housed in the same compact chassis as the Strato K movie player, Terra Prime 246TB is precision-crafted from black anodized aluminum to complement Kaleidescape Strato movie players.
It combines high capacity with fast movie downloads and local storage for uninterrupted playback. For larger installations, it can serve up to 25 simultaneous playback zones, making it ideal for luxury residences and yachts.
Why Integrators Should Take Notice
Movie formats continue to evolve, with higher fidelity options taking up more and more space on servers, and while 8K content is still few and far between, the reality is that when it does gain more content and become a more prominent format, it will take up significantly more space on servers.
“As movie collections grow with 4K Cinematic and future 8K content, our customers want more capacity without sacrificing performance,” said Tayloe Stansbury, chairman and CEO, Kaleidescape. “Terra Prime 246TB delivers our greatest storage capacity yet in a remarkably compact design.”
As much as the higher capacity server is a response to growing cinematic collections today, it’s also a future-proofing measure for 8K as the library continues to fill out.
