For years, Pro Audio Technology has innovated in the home theater market by bringing a commercial theater experience into the home. The new Pro Audio Technology S and SR Series of products continue the company's mission statement, but in smaller, more home-friendly enclosures.
The company's new products consist of three models: the S-12sm, the SR-12ai and the SR-212ai, and Pro Audio Technology says the products are engineered to reproduce the unlimited dynamics associated with a commercial theater experience, but in form factors that more easily blend into residential environments.
“The S and SR Series are a rebirth of some of Pro's most popular speaker models with substantial improvements to both the acoustics and cosmetics,” comments Paul Hales, president and product designer, Pro Audio Technology.
“These are by far the finest loudspeakers we have ever produced and we're publishing extensive laboratory measurements to prove it. Despite their modest size, the new models provide class-leading accuracy, resolution of fine detail and dynamic expression. I am confident our customers will be floored by their performance and enhanced appearance.”
Pro Audio Technology S and SR Series Feature Unique Tweeters and DSP Capabilities
Pro Audio Technology points out that its latest products replace its existing SCRS-12SM, SCRS-12ai and the SCRS-212ai models.
The Calif.-based company explains the new S and SR models incorporate a new 1.7-inch Ultra-Purity high-frequency compression driver. This compression driver is mounted on an elliptical wide-dispersion horn.
Developed for placement behind acoustically transparent projection screens, the S-12sm and SR-12ai both incorporate 12-inch 1,400 watt, long-throw woofers with 4-inch voice coils.
The SR-12ai employs a 7-inch enclosure to facilitate its installation in tight spaces. It also utilizes a slim enclosure, but it features a pair of 12-inch long-throw woofers for use in larger system designs.

When combined with the company's DSP Loudspeaker Controllers, the S and SR Series employ Pro Audio Technology proprietary DSP (digital signal processing) technologies to support integrators' ability to custom tailor frequency response, dynamics and time alignment of their installed systems.
Through the introduction of these new products, the company says that for the first time it is providing integrators with system data that includes EASE complex polar data and complete 360-degree on- and off-axis response measurements.
Pro Audio Technology adds that by providing integrators with extensive system data, they can more accurately model the acoustic performance of the systems they install during the design process.
