Autonomic MMS Adds Rhapsody: Why it’s a Big Deal

The Mirage Media Server from Autonomic Controls is one of the most full-featured music (and now movie) servers for the custom electronics channel. And now, on top of Pandora, iTunes, Last.fm, TuneIn, SiriusXM and Spotify, Autonomic delivers the Rhapsody music service. What’s the big deal? Doesn’t everyone support Rhapsody? Sorta kinda but not really, says Autonomic CEO Michael de Nigris. While many servers stream Rhapsody pretty well, most of them aren’t certified by Rhapsody itself. That means that if Rhapsody decided to change its streaming ways, the non-certified products could…

Autonomic Controls, one of the leaders in music management – both local and cloud-based -- has added video to its content aggregation and streaming systems. During CEDIA Expo 2011, Autonomic principal Michael de Nigris demonstrated the company’s MMS-5 media server streaming movies from both local sources and online services. As with the audio capabilities of the server, the video engine aggregates the content for easy search, navigation and control. “We’ve promised this for a long time,” says de Nigris. The first iteration of the Autonomic music/movie server will find any…

The new Mirage Media Server MMS-2 is a two-zone version of the company’s original MMS, now called the MMS-5 (for five zones). Next-Gen Apple TV Doesn’t Play Nice with Home Control
Julie Jacobson | 10/20 07:25 AM,

If you like integrating Apple TV with home control -- as many CE Pros do -- it’s best to stick with the original model rather than “upgrade” to the new Apple TV 2. Autonomic Controls and Extra Vegetables, two of the original and most popular creators of two-way Apple TV drivers, tell CE Pro that the new Apple TV does not lend itself to integration. Follow us on Twitter! juliejacobson ce_pro“We confirmed that the new device has changed the protocol in a manner that makes it controllable only by other…

What do you get when you cross a media server and Internet storage with synchronization and home control? The Autonomic Mirage Media Server (MMS) from S1Digital. The product builds on Autonomic’s Media Control System (MCS) technology, which merges multistream iTunes, Windows Media and Internet radio into a whole-house system that can be controlled by AMX, Crestron, RTI, URC and NuVo keypads and touchscreens. “To that we added cloud awareness and began to realize that we have a new category of device,” Autonomic co-founder Michael de Nigris tells CE Pro. The…

Autonomic Enhances 2-Way Apple TV Control
Julie Jacobson | 02/26 07:29 AM,
1 Comment
Autonomic Controls, arguably the first company to deliver two-way Apple TV control over IP, has enhanced its Apple TV control module for Crestron, AMX, Universal Remote Control, Remote Technologies Inc. (RTI) and other control systems. Most importantly, the update enables control of Apple TV’s on-screen display (OSD). When Autonomic developed the original module in May 2009, the OSD commands (d-pad, up, down, left, right, enter, menu) were not in the Apple TV protocol, according to Autonomic’s Michael de Nigris. “This meant that while our dealers could integrate media browsing and…
