Best Buy/Magnolia Staff Up for Commercial Integration
The Best Buy organization, including Magnolia and Geek Squad, are not new to the commercial space.
Best Buy for Business today services small- and medium-sized businesses, but the new commercial group has grander aspirations.
“We’re talking really big, like stadiums,” says Brian Krisko, the newly appointed director of commercial integration for Magnolia.
Earlier this year, Best Buy/Magnolia installed Control4 automation and related electronics in the Aria Resort and Mandarin Oriental at CityCenter in Las Vegas.
In the largest Control4 deployment to date, Best Buy/Magnolia equipped several high-roller suites with energy management, lighting controls, audio/video, motorized drapery and more – all of which integrate with the “city’s” technology infrastructure including guest services and communications.
Krisko, a former home systems integrator, tells CE Pro that Best Buy’s new Commercial Integration division already has scored other sizable wins.
Now the group is staffing up for the business.
In its five largest markets – Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago and Seattle -- Magnolia Audio Video is hiring commercial integration account managers (description below).
The positions are largely sales related, with the design and installation handled by integrators from Magnolia. In addition to audio, video and networking, they will offer automation (currently Control4 and AMX), digital signage and other commercial-centric solutions.
The organization itself does not employ electrical contractors; however, the commercial integration division is establishing relationships with local providers, according to Krisko.

What’s this world coming to? CEpro is doing hR for Best Buy now! Laughable…lol
We’re getting huge commissions ... you know, down economy and all. Apply now!
And when they want service do they get to walk into a Best Buy and take a number?
I think they could own commercial without breaking a sweat. But they wont be able to do it. They have the money and man power but the weak link is leadership.
You cant box move your way into global domination for however many years and then snap your fingers and your all of a sudden a tech company that can manage large projects.
These guys will beat real CI’s out of jobs with low bids then get rich by charging for service calls to patch up the garbage installation to keep it running.

Stadium system AV design with 3 years experience installing AV systems and 1 year doing bids?
Good luck.
