Utilizing technologies that have been successfully implemented in the commercial audio market, Alcons Audio is applying its driver designs to its CRMSC-SRHV Pro-Ribbon Reference Surround loudspeaker.
Alcons will show the speaker during Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2018, Feb. 6-9 in Amsterdam, in booth number 6H150.
Engineered for applications such as post-production facilities, dubbing stages and home theaters, Alcons says some of the typical uses for the product include height channels within a home theater.
The CRMSC-SRHV loudspeaker employs a RBN202 pro-ribbon driver to reproduce high frequencies and a vented 6.5-inch midrange driver for low-frequency reproduction.
Alcons explains the speaker's high-frequency section features a 500-watt peak power input that enables as much as 1:16 dynamic range with up to 90 percent less distortion from 1kHz to beyond 20kHz.
New Pro-Ribbon Reference Surround Includes Versatile Waveguide
The CRMSC-SRHV speaker is capable of delivering 90 degrees of horizontal and 60 degrees of vertical disperson coverage to help ensure that a large number of seats in an auditorium environment receive consistent sound.
Alcons emphasizes that because the CRMSC-SRHV loudspeaker's inclusion of its pro-ribbon tweeter, the speaker also produces wide dynamics through the driver's ability to produce a linear response at any SPL (sound pressure level).
The speaker also utilizes a revolvable RBN waveguide along with a trapezoidal enclosure that, when combined with Alcon's option grill and ACO color options, help integrators install the speaker into a range of environments.
The Dutch audio manufacturer advises that for maximum system performance, the CRMSC-SRHV speaker should be paired with its companion ALC Controller-Amplifier.

The combination of the CRMSC-SRHV loudspeaker and ALC Controller-Amplifier according to Alcons is designed to provide users with maximum headroom and long-term reliability.
Other support options to aid the installation process include Alcon's Signal Integrity Sensing prewiring that “completes cable/connector compensation between the CRMSC-SRHOR and ALC” regardless of cable length and system impedance.
