Providing homeowners with a choice of shallow-depth loudspeakers, Monitor Audio has announced its Super Slim In Wall (WSS) line of loudspeakers.
Available in the U.S. through its North American distribution partner Kevro International, Inc., professional integrators can utilize the WSS product line to meet the aspirations of homeowners that want home theater and whole-house audio in locations that aren't ideal for traditional architectural loudspeakers.

Monitor Audio says all three WSS in-wall loudspeakers utilize multi-driver arrays, and share the same footprint and preconstruction bracket to help integrators install the products in just about any room environment. The 2-inch deep (50mm) loudspeakers are also available in a tiered, “good, better, best” selection of choices to help integrators meet a range of budget considerations.
Monitor Audio WSS Speaker Specifications
Available in a choice of three models, the WSS in-wall loudspeakers feature a number of Monitor Audio technologies:
WSS130 loudspeaker: Monitor Audio's entry level WSS model, the speaker employs the company's MMP II cone drivers, along with a 25mm Gold-Dome tweeter. Monitor Audio says the 8-ohm speaker is 87dB efficient, and it delivers a frequency response of 75Hz to 30kHz. The speaker produces SPL levels as high as 105.6dB, and it handles 60 watts of power.
WSS230 loudspeaker: The middle-tier WSS in-wall product, the WSS230 incorporates a Monitor Audio C-CAM 3-inch by 3-inch metal-cone woofer, which is complemented by a 25mm gold-dome tweeter. The 8-ohm WSS230 speaker produces a frequency response of 75Hz to 30kHz, and it is 87dB efficient. Like the WSS130, the WSS230 loudspeaker also produces SPL levels as high as 105.6dB, and it also handles 60 watts of power.
WSS430 loudspeaker: The top-of-the-line WSS430 stands out from the other WSS products, employing a number of specific components. The WSS430 features dished C-CAM cones and a design that helps to ensure diaphragm rigidity. The drivers feature neodymium magnets and large voice coils. The magnetic system provides an “underhung” motor arrangement to help ensure the coil stays within its gap for consistent power handling and minimum distortion.
In addition, the WSS430 includes Monitor's MPD high-frequency transducer technology to ensure low distortion and clear high frequency reproduction of 50kHz.
Capable of reproducing frequencies from 70Hz to 50kHz, the 8-ohm, 87dB efficient WSS430 features a 3-inch by 3-inch C-CAM driver, along with a MPD high-frequency transducer that integrators can orientate for portrait or landscape installations.
