In Memoriam: Jeffrey J. Hess, Longtime Northeast Rep, Dies
Industry New England area veteran Jeffrey J. Hess of HiFi Stereo House, H&M Marketing and Sennheiser, dies in his sleep.
The consumer electronics community in the Northeast has lost too soon its second good guy in less than a month. Following the recent untimely death of longtime industry veteran Chuck Papachristos, Jeffrey J. Hess, 61, of Clinton, Conn., died peacefully in his sleep at home on June 30, 2015.
Hess began his career, as many of us have, in retail at the famous HiFi Stereo House in Newington, Conn. during the 1970s. Shortly thereafter, he saw an opportunity and moved to upstate New York to start a manufacturers’ rep firm with his business partner John McGurk. H&M Marketing represented better-best CE product and was best known as the Yamaha rep. Most recently, he was a regional sales manager for Sennheiser.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda (Winchell) Hess, Clinton, Conn., his daughter, Lauren B. Hess, Waltham, Mass., his brother, Michael J. Hess and his wife, Marcy and their sons Derrick, Duncan, and Donovan, Guilderland, N.Y., and several relatives in the Berwick, Pa. area.
He is also survived by numerous friends and colleagues who were lucky enough to have known one of the funniest, most selfless, loving, patriotic people one could possibly meet. Nothing made Jeff happier than music and he sang and played several instruments.
Per Jeff’s wishes, there is not going to be a formal ceremony, but an intimate gathering of family and friends in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project.
