Where Did Cannon’s CETON Quad Digital Cable Tuner Go?
The CETON tuners, which can stream up to six HD digital channels over a single cable connection, has had Windows Media Center fans salivating for quite some time. So imagine how thrilled they were when Cannon PC, a maker of Media Center PCs and CableCard products, posted its CETON Quad Digital Cable Tuner on March 4.
The $399 tuner was supposed to be available by March 31, according to the Cannon Web site.
Seemingly moments after posting the product to its home page, however, Cannon was showing the product as “out of stock.” Then it was removed from the home page, but could be found through the original product link. And now, any mention of CETON has completely evaporated from the site.
Through the wonder of Google cache, we found the original promo for the CETON product (page 2)
The following is just some of the dialog appearing at The Green Button (unedited):
At the least this shows as a good sign that Ceton is getting those OEM partners, which will be better for us in availability and support in the long run. Glad to hear that they are moving along!
---
Yes, this is why I posted it. It is real. Ceton is getting partners and we are actually going to be able to get it. As far as I know, no other partner has yet announced intended availability
---
Looks like it has been yanked down from the site. I no longer see it...
---
I think this makes a lot of sense. Cannon pc was pretty much the last place to sell ATI tuners so i dont think this will just be desktop bundles. I think they will probably be a good place to buy the CETON tuners straight away. Does anybody have any guess as to who else will be shipping desktops with a ceton card?
---
It's gone from the site completely. I just checked. I don't think it really matters because I always thought they would carry the card. We'll see what happens on the 31st
---
I'm not holding my breath on this card, when it comes out it comes out...
In other words: Drats!
CETON has been touted by Windows Media Center resellers and enthusiasts -- and Microsoft too -- as one thing that could catapult WMC into living rooms around the world.
For now, it seems, we are stuck with rows of bulky CableCards and bundles of cables for our Media Center-based entertainment systems.
CETON had scheduled the product's release for Q1 2010.

Cetons Website still says “Availability
The Ceton Digital Cable Quad-Tuner Card will be available for sale by March 31, 2010.” http://www.cetoncorp.com/buy.php
Not sure what the status is. Niveus is still focused on external Cable Card tuners so this one won’t work for us. We keep telling them to release a USB version and my guess is they will as long as this first model is successful.
“Accepting pre-orders – product expected to ship May 31, 2010”
That is from the site where you actually place orders:
care to place any bets?
I just received an email from Ceton confirming the May 31st 2010 date and they announced the tuner’s name….InfiniTV 4.
First cepro to review it for me gets a dollar!
You mean MArch 31?
...no they did push it back to May 31.
Yes, we posted update here:

GRRRR. Many possible explanations. Hope they will release as scheduled. It’s been a long time coming! Tim C. what do you know about this?
