WD Desktop Hard Drive Stores 4TBs of Data
Western Digital says its new WD Black 4 TB 3.5-inch hard drive carries an MSRP of $339, and the company says it is available through select distributors and resellers.
Western Digital (WD) is a popular manufacturer of storage solutions for the commercial and residential computing markets and recently the company announced its latest storage solution the new WD Black 4TB 3.5-inch hard drive. The company says this new drive combines 7,200 RPM spinning speed, 64MB cache, WD’s dual-stage actuator technology and SATA 6 gigabits per second (Gb/s) interface technologies, and an integrated dual processor to provide users with a high capacity storage solution that is fast and reliable for home use applications.
“Maximizing the features and functionality of power computing applications such as gaming, multimedia and video editing, the new WD Black 4TB hard drives offer capacity and performance without compromise,” boasts Matt Rutledge, vice president of client storage group, Western Digital. “In choosing WD Black hard drives, WD desktop customers get the best possible mix of capacity, performance and reliability to handle intense desktop computing with ease.”
Western Digital adds that with features like a dual processor and its dual actuator technology, the hard drive delivers lots of processing power in tandem with a two-head positioning system that improves the drive’s data tracking accuracy. In addition, the hard drive also includes the company’s IntelliSeek technology which is said to calculate the unit’s optimum operating speed to reduce power consumption, while lowering the amount of noise and vibration produced.
