Watch Steve Ballmer Deliver Microsoft’s Final CES Keynote
Watch the entire CES 2012 opening keynote from Microsoft, which is making its final appearance at the show.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer delivered the opening keynote to CES 2012, marking Microsoft’s 15th and final keynote at CES. Microsoft will not return to CES after 2012.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer delivered the opening keynote to CES 2012 on Monday night, the final CES keynote for Microsoft.
In late 2011, Microsoft said CES 2012 would be its last because “our product news milestones generally don’t align with the show’s January timing.” After the keynote, many were saying it was quite obvious why Microsoft is pulling out of CES: it continues to fall further behind competitors in product development.
The presentation revolved around Microsoft’s work on software, tablets and smartphones. Ballmer also discussed Metro, Microsoft's new user interface that will be on Windows Phone, Xbox and Windows 8. Ballmer didn't reveal a release date for Windows 8.
This was the fourth straight year Ballmer delivered the opening CES keynote, giving Microsoft a total of 15 keynote appearances at CES.
In an effort to liven things up, "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest was on stage for the entire presentation as Ballmer's sidekick. If you aren't at CES or missed the presentation, the video below replays Microsoft's entire CES 2012 opening keynote.
