Savant Conducts Due Diligence on Apple iOS 4.1
Apps being fully vetted to avoid glitches.
Sept. 9 memo to dealers: “Savant is performing a full Engineering evaluation to assure that the quality and reliability of our iPhone Apps are optimized with this release.”
Savant, like many other engineering firms making Apple apps, is conducting its due diligence on Apple's new iOS 4.1 operating platform. In an effort to protect its ROSIE customers and its integrators, the company had issued a memo to its dealer base advising them to halt upgrades on a temporary basis while the company fully vetted the new Apple upgrade.
No problems or glitches with any Savant systems in the field were reported with the new system from authorized Savant dealers, but the Osterville, Mass.-based wanted to conduct its standard due diligence and conduct "good engineering practice," according to president Jim Carroll. That vetting process is now complete.
A previous story posted on CE Pro.com referenced that Savant and other app developers received no notice from Apple. According to Savant, the company has plenty of notice for all major releases from Apple. Also, the story misinterpreted the memo as a permanent situation.
