VidaBox Unveils vController For Home Automation
Controller is designed for vAutomation systems and has four USB ports, dual Ethernet ports and up to 9 RS-232 ports.

07.17.2008 — VidaBox is unveiling its vController rack-mountable controller for vAutomation systems.

The 1U-tall controller comes with four USB ports, dual Ethernet ports, VGA video out and two standard RS-232 ports. There is an option to have up to nine RS-232 ports on the controller.

VidaBox says the vController is designed to be used in vAutomation packages with Charmed Quark's CQC software to handle automation such as lighting, climate control and security.

It controls the automation solutions via TCP/IP, RS-232, IR and other communications.

When used in a vAutomation package with CQC, there is unlimited expansion to add as many vControllers as needed.

"While the vController is available as a standalone product, it's ideally used with CQC as a part of a pre-designed vAutomation package, serving as its automation and control backbone," says VidaBox president Steven Cheung.

"By choosing a vAutomation package, integrators can save hours of design work and product testing that traditionally needs to go into every new project, reaping tremendous time savings."

The controller runs on Windows XP and supports any XP-compatible automation software.

MSRP for the vController is $2,460.

VidBox also introduced the PicoPC this week. It brings all the capabilities of a PC to HDTVs.

VidaBox will showcase both these items and more in Sound Room 17 at CEDIA Expo 2008.
