VidaBox PicoPC Brings PC Features to HDTVs
Comes with 2GB CF card, dual USB and RS-232 ports and built-in write protection.

07.16.2008 — VidaBox is now shipping the PicoPC that brings all the capabilities of a PC to HDTVs.

The PicoPC weighs just 13 ounces, is 1.25-inches tall and has no moving parts -- no fans or hard drives.

PicoPC, which runs on Windows XP, has all the capabilities of a computer: browse the Web, email, listen to music, view photos and more.

"Beyond simple Web browsing on an HDTV, one can also use it as an inexpensive digital signage solution," says VidaBox president Steve Cheung.

"AV integrators using VidaBox's vAutomation can take advantage of the PicoPC's RS-232 port and use it to control a connected TV or projector."

The mini PC comes with built-in write protection that protects it from viruses and malware.

If the entire OS is accidentally deleted or a virus is downloaded, just restart the system to restore it to its original condition.

The PicoPC also features dual USB and RS-232 ports, a VGA video out and audio input and outputs. When its combined with other control software, it controls a variety of devices.

It ships with a standard 2GB CF card with options for 4, 8 and 16GB. It also comes with a wireless keyboard and trackball.

"For consumers, they can connect Webcams and microphones to the PicoPC, and turn it into an ultra-portable, compact communication station," Cheung adds.

There is an option for a built-in wireless adapter for installations that don't have a hardwired LAN connection.

The PicoPC is available now for $929. VidaBox will showcase the system in Sound Room 17 at CEDIA Expo 2008.
