Ultra HD 4K at CES 2013 & Beyond: CE Pro Podcast
Sony 84-inch Ultra HD 4K display at CEDIA. We’ll see more of the same at CES 2013.
To get a handle on where Ultra HD is now and where it’s going, we teamed with Tim Albright of AV Nation for a casual conversation about 4K and beyond.
Joining the chat were Bjorn Dybdahl of Bjorn’s Audio Video in San Antonio TX, Gary Yacoubian, chairman of the Consumer Electronics Association’s 4K Working Group and CEO of SVS Audio (and former president of MyerEmco); George Tucker, engineering coordinator for World Stage; and Electronic House technology editor Grant Clauser.
Sony introduced the first 4K consumer display in 2011 with the VPL-VW1000ES home theater projector. In 2012, 4K LCD TVs finally hit the market from LG and Sony. All of the aforementioned products have been greeted with enthusiasm and accolades by dealers, reviewers and consumers, but as a new technology, there are still lots of questions. Our panel cut through some of the hype to explain the benefits and issues, and offer their own insights into what the future holds.

Also, UHD is 3840, not 3820 as stated in the last 10 mins. May need to include an addendum or note of some sort.
Not sure if this was clear or not, but The Hobbit wasn’t finished in 4K for distribution…so if it was said that it was seen on a 4K Barco, even if 3D 48FPS Dolby Atmos, it was upscaled on output.
